Home theater projector setup work in progress (THE SCREEN)

by admin | January 28, 2012 | In TV Installation

I’m in the process of adding a projector to my setup. The screen is a Focupix 100″ diagonal 16×9 electric screen. (Room is a mess, the crank you hear at 2:19min is NOT the screen) The project should be near completion in the next 2 weeks. I was originally going to get a 65″ Plasma, to upgrade from my 56″ DLP. This is alot cheaper for a much bigger screen and I will be keeping my DLP for ordinary viewing. If you are interested, look into it for your own setup.

I have seen the 8500, AE4000 and the 1080UB in action. The 8500 and 1080UB IMO look brighter and clearer than that of Panasonics. To be truthful, I liked the 1080UB

Yea I know all about that, but my budget is$1750 and I just can’t reach to $2000 right now, I’m also impatient and the last month has been agonizing, waiting. I know the 8500UB is like $2200 after a rebate so I would have to pay like $2500 up front which is definately not gonna happen. The AE4000 is a bit closer but still $2000 is $2000.

Also understand the technology’s…. DLP Vs LCD Vs LCOS. As a general observation DLP suffers from rainbows and grey black’s. LCD suffers from blue greenish blacks and vibrant but unnatural colors. LCOS has the best contrast but its image is somewhat soft. I would recommend either the Epson 8500UB or Pansonic AE 4000. The Panasonic sells for about $3000 less and features the way cool anamorphic lens memory. Post a video of your completion and let me know what you decided

My friend the models you mentioned are past models and even though they are awesome you can get the newer models for $1700-$2000 example being Panasonic PT AE 4000 on Projectorpeople website or the new Epson models. Sometimes Epson offers free lamps or extended warranty. I suggest you check out Projector Reviews or Projector Central sites.

I have been like living on avsforum for the last few weeks searching the threads for the best projector I can get. My budget is $1700-$1800 I have narrowed it down to the Epson 1080UB and Panasonic AE3000U and possibly the Mitsubishi HC6500. I’ll be getting one of these in the next few days.

good thinking on going with a projector set up, you won’t go back. So what projector are you thinking of getting? have you looked at avsforums or avforums? check them out those are the two most helpful websites online.
